q.  BOY OR GIRL??  Which do I get?
a.  Well,  with Havanese, it's not like other breeds.  Havanese boys are just as loving and faithful as the little girls.   Plus their hair is absolutely heavenly and for some reason even softer than the females- even though all my Havanese have heavenly soft hair!   My little boy never goes from one room to the other even without coming over to greet me first  and he is the stud of all our puppies.  With all the litters I've had, I have not noted any noticeable difference between the boys and the girls in their behaviors or personalities. 

q.  Are havanese hypoallergenic?
a.  They don't shed and have real hair instead of the thick fur that holds in the pet dander, so people with allergies LOVE these dogs.  They are like people in that when you comb their hair a few may fall out,  but they do not shed and replace their coat.  They still do have dander, though the lack of shedding does keep that down,  we recommend if you have allergies to make sure and bath your dog on a regular schedule.  You can use a dampened paper towell to wipe through the hair every couple days to remove any loose dander as well.    We do have a customer that had dog allergies and purchased one of our pups and they LOVE her and are having no allergy issues.
 

q.  What is the Personality of the Havanese?   

a.  Havanese  dogs have a natural good nature and get along with anyone.  They are not "one person" dogs as so many other breeds.  They are very social and love to visit.  We have bred the best characteristic of the breed in our dogs.  They have energy to run and play when it's time for exercise,  but when you pick them up,  they melt in your arms and love to just be held. They will lay at your feet or next to you on the couch for hours quite content unlike many other small dogs that have too much energy.   

q.  Do I have to brush them all the time?
a.  No.  A Havanese kept in a Puppy cut ( that is about 2 inches of length)  will be fine with a run thorugh once a week to look for any hair catching.  If it's longer,  it requires more time.  I  brush mine that are in full show coat 2-3 times a week and right before baths quite thoroughly.  Brushing your dog is a great bonding experience and it's very enjoyable to sit down with them every week and brush their hair out.  We do it while watching Tv. 

q.  Do you deliver?
a.      I meet up to 3 hours away for $75 dollars.     If it's farther away, then there is a $100 dollar charge up to 350 miles and $150 up to 600 miles.  I try to not ship by airplane unless the puppies are older.     However,  that is stressful to the dog and I prefer to deliver and meet the buyers and see the puppy safely in their arms.  Rates are usually $315 depending on the airline we can get and where you are.

 All delivery charges - if applicable- must be paid upfront before delivery. 

q.  Do you sell on a Show/open contract?
a.  I do,  but I need a application filled out for that with many additional questions so i have more information to insure the dog's safety.  Full/show registration is $400 additional. 
Due to good dogs that I breed, I do  have "show" worthy dogs and those registrations have to be open in order to show the dog.   It is a lot of fun to show a dog.  My son, Joseph,  just won his first three ribbons with our Carman  this last October and he thoroughly enjoyed it!  Carman had a blast as well!


q.  Do you use a contract?
a.  Yes, I do.  We want to be sure our puppies are going to lead happy and healthy lives and be safe.  Here is a copy of that. 

PUPPY CONTRACT & HEALTH GUARANTEE

• Under no circumstances will this dog be sold, leased or given away, to any pet shop, research laboratory or similar facility.  If you ever have a family crisis that required you to get rid of your pet, please bring them back to KingsKids Havanese.

• Purchaser agrees to spay/neuter their Havanese if it is being purchased as a Companion.

• Your puppy has been fed with a high quality Holistic puppy food called SOLID GOLD.  We recommend using this or another  high quality food to avoid future health problems with your puppy.  Just like with people,  a good diet can help your puppy avoid health problems down the road.

• If  clear evidence should ever be found that this dog is abused, neglected or mistreated, the purchaser will surrender it to the seller, unconditionally and with no intention of any refund.

• Buyer agrees to provide the puppy with a clean, pleasant environment, conducive to good health and with adequate space for exercise.  While we recommend using a crate for bedtime and for housetraining, this dog is never to be left to live in a crate or cage. 

• Please be aware that letting your puppy/dog roam outside in an unfenced area without the owner or keeper will invite disease, fleas and danger.   While your Havanese is not a “run away” breed and usually loves to come to you when you call, we recommend using a leash or fenced area to walk your dog for their own safety.

• KingsKids Havanese  will provide your AKC registrations papers at time of delivery or within 15 days of purchase of your puppy by PRIORITY Mail. 

• Seller will provide a Health Certificate  if the dog is shipped.  If the buyer picks up the puppy, the seller will not provide a health Certificate from the Veterinarian, but the health guarantee will be honored and shot records are provided.  All puppies are vet checked.

• Seller guarantees your puppy to be in good health and that they have been checked by KingsKids Havanese Veterinarian  -Butler Animal Clinic   7545 Oak Ridge Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37931.  Dr. Mike. 

 HEALTH GUARANTEE: 

We strongly recommend you take the puppy to your own Veterinarian and have them checked out within the first 5 days. If, within that period of time, your veterinarian finds any health problems that would be life threatening or cause serious health risks to your puppy, KingsKids Havanese will take the puppy back for a full refund.   That health concern must be verified in writing by a licensed vet within that 5-day period with contact infomation included.   Any Exceptions must be noted on this contract. ** 

• It is the responsibility of the buyer to provide immediate vet care to any puppy showing signs of illness or distress, and failure to do so will render any guarantee null and void.

• If the puppy should die within the guarantee 5 day period, despite medical treatment, compensation will be made only if a licensed Veterinarian certifies the cause of the death is not due to the buyer’s negligence.

• ONE YEAR GUARANTEE:  This puppy is guaranteed against any congenital life threatening defect for 1 year from delivery date.  Should it die within that time as a direct result of a congenital defect, except any exclusions in the contract,  the puppy will be replaced at the breeder-seller’s expense with another puppy from KingsKids Havanese as soon as one becomes available.  Written proof from a State licensed veterinarian showing it was a congenital defect must be provided.  KingsKids Havanese reserves the right to have their vet examine the animal.

This contract is legal and binding to all parties involved.  It applies only to the buyer and seller in this original transaction and is not transferable to other parties.
